Last September--for Eric's Birthday--we bought two bikes. I don't know if it's legal to buy myself a bike on his birthday but that's what happened. He rode his to work a few times prior to the nasty weather of winter but mine has stayed safely in the basement since purchase.
The weather is starting to get nice and since I have had a lot of time on my hands this week (mainly because I didn't make it to Utah for spring break) I brought mine upstairs yesterday after spin class. Maybe that's the real reason I was feeling up to those skinny tires--that I've been getting up at the crack-o-dawn to spin my heart out at the gym and I kind-of like it. It's a great workout. I like the people in the class. And I like the instructor--who totally gets in your face without being too obnoxious. Besides having a sore seat and legs for a few days it's been great.
So upstairs it came and I rode it to do my errands--basically just to go to the post office and to visit the moms from my ward who were meeting for soccer/play-group at the elementary school since all their kiddies were out of school and needed some entertainment. I loved riding it around and hopefully will do it a lot. I think I'm going to try going a week without driving my car just to see if I can do it...that is if I don't have Vicky--that would't be too safe for her.
Because I was supposed to be out of town, I had made arrangements to teach all my NEC groups a different weekend which meant Eric and I had all day to play Saturday. We decided to load the bikes up on his new car rack that he got for Christmas and head out to Kimball's, our favorite ice cream place in Carlisle (because, ya know, nothing motivates a person more than the reward of a mound of ice cream at the end of a ride).
Totally worth it and totally fantastic. A perfect day.

My hubby. Fake smile. Go figure.
Using my new pressurized Geigerrig hydration packs for the first time. No sucking, just squirting. What?! We highly recommend them.
Kimball's = AMAZING In a wise move (prior to the return ride to our car) we decided to share our mint chip.
Love, Love, Love pictures from Boston. Thanks for sharing. Makes me feel a bit closer.
