Claire's Blessing

Claire Renie Miller
July 20, 2013
At the midway point of our Utah visit we had Claire's baby blessing. What a wonderful way to gather with family and friends. Mark and Kathy generously opened their home and we had a beautiful morning. The day started with food preparation, setting up tables, chairs, and tents in the backyard, and washing up.

Claire wore the dress I was blessed in.
Gigi Patton gave us her blanket and she wore a bracelet from Great Grandma Pedersen.
Getting Dressed
How many people does it take to dress a baby?
After setting up
Around 11 family started to arrive and almost everyone was there. What a special day! For those who don't know, in the LDS church when a baby is born they are given a name and a blessing by their father. In the days prior I loved watching Eric contemplate and prepare what he would like to say and he gave Claire a beautiful blessing.

I'm not sure why I love this picture so much--maybe it is because of the way Eric is looking her or because it reminds me of the way I felt as all the most important men in my life surrounded her and gave her a blessing. I was overcome by the love I felt for Claire and for Eric and by the spirit witnessing to me of God's love for my sweet little baby.

Awesome.
After the blessing we sat and ate and talked and ate some more.

It was a perfect day.

Should we take bets on if this end up being a Christmas Card?

  1. Absolutely beautiful! I had not heard that Eric had gotten married. Wonderful!!! I LOVE your wedding photo at the top of your blog. Absolutely gorgeous! I'm so happy for both of you! Congratulations on your beautiful baby girl! It was so nice to see all the Millers on your blog. They are some of the most wonderful people I have been blessed to meet and know. (I grew up in Maine and was there when they lived there for a few years.)
