I love Christmas! And since I'm starting to feel like a normal human being again I have the energy/desire to do some of the things I love about the season.
After what seemed like a very long morning of bringing boxes up from the basement (don't forget I'm up to 18 weeks...stairs are hard...) most of the decorations are up: the Nativity, the books and cds, the fake table tree Eric calls our "Charlie Brown Christmas Tree", and the ornaments. All we needed was a tree to put the ornaments on.
The saturday I had planned on getting the tree was spent coughing on the couch so it got bumped to last Saturday, the 8th. We had talked about getting a smaller tree that could be placed up and out of reach of my students but when we arrived at Wilson's we just couldn't resist ourselves (which is code for Eric thought the little ones were lame). I was quite overwhelmed by the options. They had so many varieties: Balsam that smell good, Frazier that keep their needles, those with long needles, those with short, those that were slightly off green (but looked that they hadn't been watered forever and were a fire hazard--in my opinion). Too many choices. Our tree ended up being taller than both of us and according to multiple students (who thought it was fake) it is perfectly symmetrical/proportioned.

| Yes. That is a for real smile. |

| My attempt at lights...too thick...not enough strands... |

| Eric's lights...a much better job. |
Eric's most favorite part of the day by far was when we went to the Nutcracker. I know it's been all over the news but Boston Ballet had new choreography/staging this year and he's been waiting with baited breath...right. We did go out for a Thesis celebratory dinner before the concert with some fabulous mashed potatoes and mac and cheese. It's been a while since we've ventured out into Boston for a night on the town (courtesy of my ever changing bedtime) so it was lovely to get out and see the lights and the crazies.

The Boston Opera House.
Look at all those happy Nutcrackin' people surging forward to find their seats. |
