Wanting to celebrate in style we decided to have a Surprise Party for him on Saturday. Mary rigged it so she could send out ward emails without them going to my dad inviting everyone from his singles ward so there were at least 50, maybe 60 of us, there to honor him.
Our big contribution (in addition to a much needed Romney hat inspired by Craig Bird) was dessert. Cupcakes. Awesome.
We made Red Velvet with a cream cheese filling and frosting, Yellow Buttermilk with a lemon buttercream frosting, and German Chocolate with the coconut-pecan-carmelly concoction that normally goes in the middle and on top.
All in all there were 84 of them. We're a little cupcaked out. But he's totally worth it.
Before the party started. Eric made the sign and all the numbers scattered around the room.
The Birthday Boy's arrival. Emily and a friend were acting as lookouts so we could light the candles before he came in
Since they are his favorite we had jars of Peanut M&Ms and Pistachios all over. I start feeling sick (again) when I think about how many of them I ate.
I'm SO HAPPY to read your blog!!!! It's so cute - although I agree that Eric needs to smile more in his pictures. :) (Chris always throws something at me when I try to take one of him. BOYS!!!) LOL! It was SO GOOD seeing you guys! Next time I have begged Chris to let us leave our kids at home ... and he has agreed. So, let us know when you are in town next! (Maybe we'll be getting to meet your new little one!!! SO EXCITING!!!) Keep posting!!!!
