The Goat Rodeo

Oh My Goodness...so far this is the highlight of 2012.

We went to the 10 pm show of the Goat Rodeo Sessions on Tuesday night (January 31, 2012). I hadn't heard much about the group but when I saw they were playing I really wanted to get tickets because, looking at the band/group members they are all terrific musicians. Thanks for the tickets Mark and Kathy.

The Goat Rodeo is made up by Yo-yo Ma (the cellist), Stuart Duncan (a fantastic fiddler), Edgar Meyer (bass player supreme), and Chris Thile (crazy talented mandolin player/all around musician. They chose the name Goat Rodeo because a goat rodeo is "a chaotic situation, often one that involves several people, each with a different agenda/vision.perception of what's going on; a situation that is very difficult, despite energy and efforts, to instill any sense or order into."

It was amazing. Even now, as I am listening to it, is my jaw is dropped and I can't really do anything except listen. It's sick how talented they are. And Edgar Meyer and Chris Thile didn't use any music. Really?! It makes me want to practice, but then again maybe then I'll just be depressed.

You should all check it out.

Favorite moments of the night:
1 - seeing the very diverse crowd at the House of Blues in Boston
2 - being up close and personal
3 - having Eric say, one, that he enjoyed it (when he thought it was going to be a very long night) and, two, that it was one of the best concerts he's ever been to (maybe I'm rubbing off or maybe it was just lucky...time will tell)
4 - did I mention it was AMAZING?
